Asakusa, Tokyo

I'm back from Tokyo-LA! After my last visit to Tokyo in May, I've been missing this place lots!! More of fooooood especially! I fall weak on Japanease food!!

This time round, I manage to go to the wholesale fish market in Tokyo, Tsukiji. It opens from 5-7.30 am daily thus imagine I woke up at 4am (SIN 3am) just to check out this infamous fish market!

And I've got another 2 gals who were surprisingly very ONZ to go with me!!

Lots of pics but upload only a few!

I'm impressed by how neat the fish are being cut and cleaned. Every piece just looks so identically perfect!

This fish is so huge!! I was guessing with the gals if its a shark or wad. So BIG!! OMG!

Everyone is busy working while the 3 of us, nicely dressed up strolling around the fish market with cameras in our hands snapping away appearing extremely bimbo!
But, who cares! we're tourists wad!! ;)

There were tons of seafood everywhere n everything is so huge! I saw HUGE scallops, prawns, crabs etc. Not forgetting HUGE FISH!!
After a few rounds, I conclude that its all about the same stuff. Therefore, we head off to the highlight of the trip and tat is to eat the fresh-EST sashimi!!
There were a few restaurants nearby the fish market selling sashimi. We were already like hungry ghost by den!
Almost every restaurant is full house at 6.30 am. So jus imagine how great the sashimi here are!
We couldnt decide which one to go. There was one that has a long Q outside cos as typical Singaporeans, we reckon the longest Q must be the best but after awhile, our hungry stomachs gave in and settled for the second best. =)
Its a small place that can occupy less than 10 pax but the wait was all worth it.

We couldnt decide what to order as honestly, each piece of sushi aint cheap. But thankfully, the guy next to us who could speak English suggested we go for the set costing at 3500 yen in which the chef will decide n handpick a few pieces for us.
Thankfully, we were allowed to order 2 sets to share among 3 of us and it cost us about SGD 50 for that few pieces of sushi but, the taste of it is jus soooooo wonderful!

Dont u find that jus by the look of it makes it palatable enough???
Gosh, as I write this, the taste still lingers in my mind and salivating over it now!

Finally after the satisfying meal, I managed to take some photos after everything was cleared.
It was still early in the morning so we decide to head back the hotel to rest before adourning for some shopping action.
But, never did I expect to go to Asakasa to c the temple with this red lantern which I always see in other people's photos n TV!
It was by pure chance that one of the gals suggested going to a temple which results us to check out with the conceirge.
And there was a shopping street, Nakamise that sells local food, souveniers, etc tat leads to the temple.
I love such shopping streets!! Its so localised unlike the usual department stores whereby every mall is just the same in every country.

The Fa Cai Mao are sooo cute! I wanted to bring one home but after looking at the price, i decided not to.
Afterall, yen is quite high now and recession!! Must cut down on such bo liao spending!!

But nonetheless, I will never say no to Japanese food!! I literally ate n ate throughout my stay in Tokyo. Im jus nuts over it!
Rice crackers are very common in Japan and I've been eating our friendly local 'Wang Wang' since young.
But, in Japan..
They have freshly made ones!!!
Its made plain orignal and dip into soy sauce n bbq it awhile more before selling it. First time I ever tasted a HOT rice cracker!
Cool!~
I finally gotta take pic with this red lantern that I've always been seeing around!!
Guess wad, there's a dragon engraved beneath the lantern!!
The view of the temple from inside.
Everyone was trying to get the smoke out from the incense onto them which i guess for good luck purposes.
So,
Auntie here also cannot lose out right!?
Hahhaha
And then, there was another fountain in which everyone was drinking water from.
So,
Auntie here also must go drink it right?!
Hahahhaha
To draw lots the Japanese way,
U can slot in 100 yen than shake the little cylinder shown on the right side, c the number of the lot u got and get it from the numbered drawers.
Everything is DIY! COol!
And to make wishes, u can write it on this wooden plate and hang it here. Dont worry that u dont know Japanese because,

Even German words are accepted toooo! lOlxx
Nonetheless, we carried on our day with shopping in Shinjuku.
I was told by a friend that Burberry's Blue Label had new 2009 series in baby pink. I was all so excited and eager about it but to my huge disappointment, I find it not irresistable at all.
Sigh.... I was sooooooo when I saw the bags on display.

Nice meh?
I seriously dont tink so lor.
We ended the day by grabbing useless stuff in 100 Yen shop. Everytime i go to 100 yen shop, i ended up with stuff literally left to collect dust in a corner of my room.
So this time round, I made serious careful choices and to make sure I put it into good use, I took out everytime the moment i got home n used it!
The day was extremely tired cos I woke up extremely early n had a jam packed day filled with activities.
We reach the hotel in the evening without having dinner cos we were jus too tired to eat.
Its CNY soon and I wont be spending it this year cos I will be doing another Tokyo-LA flt again on Chu 1!!
I am going to stuff myself silly with more Japanese foooood!
Hope u will have a great CNY n collect more BIG ANG BAOS!!!
xOxO,
missy_a
